Paul McCartney wrote this song in Hamburg, Germany while The Beatles were the house band at The Star Club, where they spent much of 1962 improving their skills with constant live performances. An early favorite, the band performed the song at their Parlophone Records audition on June 6, 1962.
This is a great example of how the group forged a very personal relationship with their fans through songs that spoke directly to the listener. The words “I,” “You,” “Me” and “Love” show up in many of their early hits, creating a strong connection between band and listener.
This was used as the B-side of “Love Me Do,” the first Beatles release in England. It was going to be their first single, but Peggy Lee had a song out with the same title so the record company decided to release “Love Me Do” instead.

One of Rubber Soul’s most memorable songs, Michelle was written by Paul McCartney with a little help from the wife of an old school friend.
The song was one of McCartney’s oldest, having been started in around 1959. He composed the tune on his first ever guitar, a Zenith, which he still owns.
Michelle was one of McCartney’s first attempts by McCartney to play with a finger picked guitar style, signalling a desire to experiment beyond the boundaries of rock ‘n’ roll.

“I Me Mine” is a song by the Beatles, written and sung by George Harrison and released on their 1970 album Let It Be. The song originated from the January 1969 Get Back/Let It Be sessions, and its lyrics serve as a comment from Harrison on the fractious situation within the band. The Beatles rehearsed the song at Twickenham Film Studios that same month and formally recorded it a year later. It was the last new track recorded by the band before their split in April 1970.

The song was reissued as a single – Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band / With A Little Help From My Friends with B-Side A Day In The Life in the U.S. August 1978 and in the U.K. September 1978. With a Little Help from My Friends was ranked No. 311 on Rolling Stone ’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
