Recorded in a single July 1963 session at EMI’s Studio 2, “She Loves You” broke all the rules — including starting with the chorus!
Lennon and McCartney wrote it in a Newcastle hotel room while on tour. Their idea? A song where a guy tells his friend his girl still loves him. Simple… but genius.
Paul’s dad famously disliked the “Yeah, yeah, yeah” and asked them to change it to “Yes, yes, yes.” They didn’t — good call, right?
It was the best-selling single of the 1960s in the UK — over 1.9 million copies — and the one that made “Beatlemania” explode.
It was also the first Beatles song to use a sixth chord — giving it that dramatic, jazzy ending.
The song made such an impact in Germany that the Beatles recorded a version in German — “Sie Liebt Dich” — for the European market.
